Children of Warwick graduate from HIPPY program

3 Dec 2018

On Tuesday 27 November, a graduation ceremony was held for the children who participated in the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) run by Mercy Community in Warwick.

HIPPY is a free, research-based program, running over two years, to prepare children and their families for the schooling years. HIPPY is proven to improve communication between a child and their guardian, and promote an enthusiasm to learn.

“The graduation ceremony is a chance to celebrate the achievements of the children who participated, and award them certificates on stage in front of family and friends,” said Carol Turnbull, Mercy Community’s HIPPY coordinator in Warwick.

“It is a pleasure to see the delight in the eyes of the children’s families as they watch the children graduate the program. They are so proud of what the little ones have achieved,” she added.

HIPPY includes a fortnightly parent group meeting, which gives parents and caregivers the chance to expand their knowledge. Mercy Community had a multitude of expert guest speakers from the community attend these meetings and share their knowledge on a multitude of topics.

Expressions of interest for the 2019 HIPPY program in Warwick are now being received. For more information, please call Carol Turnbull on (07) 4617 7600.
